Bridgend County Borough Council has given notice if its intention to change the catchment of the Broadlands Maes yr Haul School.
BRA is concerned that the principal purpose of this plan is to support declining numbers at other local schools rather than to support the long term future of Maes yr Haul and its role as a community hub for the whole of the Broadlands estate. Specifically, we are concerned that to reduce the catchment of the school will lead to a significant fall in numbers and a concomitant fall in resources and staffing at the school.
Broadlands Residents’ Association is concerned that the County Borough Council has not provided clear and convincing justification for this change. The school is the hub of the Broadlands community and it makes no sense to force Broadlands children to attend other schools without good cause.
Over the next few weeks this blog will be updated with some key articles examining the issues of the proposed change.
